LET'S START WITH SOME BOYCOTTS AND SET IT UP WITH AN ACCEPTABLE ELECTED SPOKESPERSON. WORK STOPPAGES. BOYCOTT ONE SINGLE GAS COMPANY LIKE EXXON. FORM SOME KIND OF UNION. HELL, I WILL RUN IT OR BE THE RIGHT HAND MAN FOR THE MAN OR THE WOMAN. SOMEONE MENTIONED LETTERMAN. WE NEED A GROUP LIKE BEN FRANKLIN, JEFFERSON ETC. GOT THINGS GOING TO START THIS GOVERNMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE. IT IS A WARPED TWISTED VERSION OF WHAT IT STARTED OUT TO BE. IT MUST END, AND IT WILL, ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.

We need an amendment REQUIRING the government to grant final power to randomly selected groups of 100 people from each congressional district and 1000 from each state to form a "Jury-Congress". Their vote would override any law congress and the prez enact.

We would have to change the way campaigns are financed. Right now only the rich can afford to run. Or they have to take money from lobbys and basically be made to do what they want because they have the purse strings. The campaign finace reform laws have not helped one bit either.
We could make all the networks and PBS give an equal number of minutes of free advertising time to each side etc.
The way things are done at present does not give much opportunity for new ideas, new people.

There is not a one on in any of the parties so far that I am impressed with. None of the Democrats that have declared so far, esp Hillary and Obama. They would be disasters in the White House. McCain has gone so liberal it is not even funny. We need a strong contender that is for the people and for the country. I don't see anybody waiting in the wings to step up to that position.

i haven't liked any presidential nominations for a very long time.
I agree that the government needs fixing, and a general clean-up, but what can be done? You'd be hard-pressed to find even a thousand people that would actually commit to doing anything about it; it doesn't affect them now, why should they interrupt their daily lives because some crazy, bug-eyed revolutionary/hippie wants them to?

As long as we have cheap TV's and iPods from China and a whole city full of actors entertaining us, who cares if the country is going straight to you-know-where. America isn't uncomfortable enough yet for anyone to care where it's going.

Johnny B. Goode, you are not alone, I even considered David Letterman, excellent speaker, and very intelligent.

I don't like anyone I've seen from either party. Strangly, I would like to see a Lieberman ticket, and I'm a Conservative!

I'm also an Independant, always have been.
