I live in the uk and as the archaic laws stand I can't get anything for it here but what about if I went abroad? Are any U.K. politicians working to change the law?

"Wikipedia puts the price of a fresh kidney at about $125,000 US dollars. A small portion covers transportation costs; the rest is split between the donor, a private hospital, and the broker. The broker reaps about $55,000 in profit on each of such transactions. It is difficult to find reliable data on how often black market organ transactions occur in America, but the organ trade is certainly alive not only in the US but all over the world."

You better hurry up -- they will be growing them in petri dishes soon and the black market will dry up.

At any rate, besides being illegal, it would not be enough to put a down payment on a house in the UK these days, what with real estate prices being what they are.

Laws about sale of body parts exist to protect venerable people like yourself from being exploited. You could join UKIP or one of the other weird right wing parties and campaign to change the law but you're not likely to get much support.
If you travel to a country in the developing world you might get £300-£400 but you'd be competing against the local market. Of course afterwards you would have to live very carefully because if anything happened to the one you have left you're looking at a lifetime of renal dialysis.

I can't confirm this, but I saw a news show here in the US 2-3 months ago claiming that scores of foreigners were traveling to China in order to OBTAIN kidneys since they were being ripped out of Chinese prisoners and sold to those who need them "for about half the global going rate of US $30,000," which, at today's exchange rate, would amount to 15,286 pounds.

Most UK kidneys have been subjected to alcohol abuse, and ingesting other toxic substances.
At a rough estimate, I'd say your kidney was worth about £3000.

In the US, you could get 5 to 10 years in prison. Why would yo usell your kidney? What would you do if you your left one kidney and something happened to it. I sure would not give you mine because you wanted some quick cash.

Exactly how progressive a legislator do you believe one is if they campaign for the right to sell your own body parts?
