I sense that you're complaining about your wife, but yeah, I always check first.
Actually, I always keep the seat AND THE LID down. Feces can bounce up to 6 feet in radius during flushing. We should always cover the lid when before we push the lever. So I just leave it covered. I think this would be fair for both men and women, since both have to lift it up when using the toilet. And no more E.Coli on the walls. (ew~)
I had fallen in when I was 7. It was because I was too short to reach for the light to see it. And it was at my grandparent's house.

They call that, "Dunkin' Your Doughnut". ha ha ha It happens to both sexes. Keep the lid and the seat down for both sexes. The women have to only lift one item and the men two. Just like in all other areas of life where men are expected to work twice as hard physically. Women worry about toilet seats and men build tunnels under the English channel to France. Get the picture?

Not quite, but consider this:
It's possible to weight the seat, or put a thick cover on the lid, or shift the mounting screws (depends on design, etc.) so the seat won't stay up. That could be a real surprise to a male who doesn't expect it to fall as he's dribbling away, but it can also resolve a conflict between a male and a female who live together -- it's easy enough to hold the seat up, as long as one knows.

sure they do, exceptionally in the event that they upward thrust up during the evening they won't turn the sunshine on so that they won't wake all of us up yet then won't be able to see that the seat that's up it fairly is why it fairly is purely undemanding decency to place the seat down once you have finished yet on yet another be conscious, you're able to consistently close the rest room once you flush the rest room besides to decrease the unfold of germs and micro organism the rest room should not be left open, not to indicate left with the seat up

I woke up in the middle of the night once and had to go when that happened to me. It was dark, and I wasn't paying much attention. Being half-asleep, I didn't think to check.

sometimes you need to go in the middle of the night, and you don't want to wake up all the way...so you kind of "feel your way" to the bathroom, and some IDIOT has left the seat up because he's too lazy to put it down, so you fall in!
