I'm sure I wasn't even walking yet when I first heard it. My mom and Dad were both major fans when the album came out, and we always had music playing in our house, so Pink Floyd was a constant presence in my formative years. And Dark Side is still on my list of top ten albums.

I was about 13-14, and the album was a few years old. They just published Animals at that time. I thought then - and think so still - that it was too pretentios & preposterous, preaching hypocrisy (they sing against MONEY? ROFL) but I like dit musically. In fact, i saw Roger and his goons lasst year playing the whole DSOTM. I don't quite share your fasscination with it, as I know of many, many better albums (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, etc.), but it is a good record/CD, to be sure.

I was young; my older brother played it a lot when I was young...didn't really pay attention to it. Years later, I was in high school in Denmark and we had to analyze the songs for English class, and that's when i realized the great lyrics. My brother was also very jealous that I had to do listen for class!
