I agree with the above answers and also I've read that if you wake up slowly (not by a jolt like an alarm clock, which in my case always cuts my dreams off) you have an easier time remembering your dreams. I definitely notice the difference in ease of remembering when I just wake up naturally instead of an alarm or whatever.

yes, we have MANY dreams because we go through 4 stages before we dream. The longer we sleep, the more stages we skip. It takes about 90 minutes for a person to have a dream, this is called the REM cycle. unless you have narcolepsy...like me.....then you CAN have dreams VERY quickly which can be prooven with an EEG. I can have dreams in under 6 minutes. Now, after we dream, we go back and start another cycle, so we can't remember all the dreams we've had unless A) you are a lucid dreamer like me, or B) you wake up after or during every dream and write them down.

If I remember a dream when I first wake up and it is something I want to remember later, I will play the whole dream out in my head. I've also heard if you keep a pen and pad by your bed, you can write down a few details to jog your memory for later.

I don't. Many times I'll be having a dream, but as the alarm rings and I adapt to being awake again and feeling my body, I forget my dream. If you really want to keep track, make a dream journal or something.

Consciously tell yourself, over and over, as you are falling asleep, "I am going to remember my dreams tonight." This may take awhile to actually bring results, but this is seriously what is recommended to help a person start remembering dreams.

The advice above about keeping a notepad by your bed is also good.

Good luck.

Keep a pencil and paper by thebed, and write down everything you remember when you wake up.
