I've seen people recommend a program called iDump for copying songs back to your computer. It's a free program. I haven't used it, though. You might have some luck with that. Just do a search for iDump.

there's a program call copypod that I paid $20 for (well worth the money) and it downloads all your playlists and music from your ipod to your computer. I'm sure there's free software out now that you can find with a little research but I bought this thing like 2 years ago and I use it all the time.

If you're using winamp5 you could add ml_ipod plugin here http://www.mlipod.com/
You will be able to mange your ipod through winamp, transferring files back and forth...so I'm told.
If it's a one off thing you can use iPodRip for free to transfer files back to your computer. If you plan on making a habit of it you will need to purchase iPodRip after 10 sessions.

no the only thing you can do is add music to your ipod and delete songs from your ipod not the other way around...sorry
