No, fast food is a convenient place to eat on those busy days when you simply don't have the time to cook.

No.
A ban on fast food restaurants would:
1. Be an excessive use of government control-- since when could the government tell us what we could and couldn't eat? Even the most obsessive governments in history didn't do that, except by not allowing them food at all.
2. It's mind-boggling to think how many people would lose their jobs if this move was made. Just McDonald's alone, with its famed store baring its golden arches in every town in the U.S. would impact thousands of people. If you want an actual application to present, you might check up on exactly how many people work for McDonald's, Burger King, and the other fast-food greats.

In summary, it's not the government's job to treat its constituents as children, unable to care for themselves.
If you were required to give a counter plan, I would suggest something along the lines of ads, supported by the government. If they can generate enough hype about second-hand smoke that the state of Louisiana no longer allows smoking in restaurants, etc, then we can definitely encourage healthier eating with ads.

Hope I helped. =)

Of course not...the whole question is foolish. Nobody is forcing anyone to eat food that WE ALL KNOW is bad for us. It's a matter of personal responsibility. If you want to eat ThickBurgers every day for the rest of your (short) life, you have the right to do so. The idea of 'banning' things like that is misplaced and idiotic. Creating a "nanny state" that governs what we eat, what we say, and what we see is repulsive to me. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY is key to all of these retarded debates (you can quote me). Just because some luxury is offered doesn't mean one has to indulge in it. Don't we all have minds and proclivities all our own? Does anyone really believe that marketing affects our individual desires?

We live in a DEMOCRACY. People have the right to choose in our country and we can't take away their right to choose what foods they want to eat. I personally don't eat fast food, but I would hate to not have it available if I so chose to eat a burger one day. Like the other guy said...FREE ENTERPRISE. Although I do agree that Obesity is a major problem in our society...we can't target the fast food joints. Their's is a business just like any other from coffee houses to cigarettes, from guns to freakin bars. It is cowardly to attack the fast food places. It's not like they're holding guns to our head to eat the food. No one forces us to eat fast food, it is by choice people can't eat in moderation or get off their lazy asses to exercise and eat healthier food!

Well, that is all I have to say about that! Hope that helps!

Government cannot tell people what to eat
An entire fast food industry cannot be banned
Eaten in moderation, once in a while, it isn't too bad for you
Some people work too late to cook a meal for their families
Most fast food places have at least one healthy item on their menu, i.e., salads

Fast food promotes bad diet, fat people, animal cruelty and animal desease like we saw at Bernard Matthews turkey farm recently. If you inspect a chicken and it has brown marks on it then it has wallowed in its urine, a common happening to fast food chickens. We can never ban fast food but we can demand better quality food and better treatment for the animals and fowl these fast food places use.

Although it's generally not healthy, it up the individual to determine what he will eat.
