It seems Paula Abdul doesn't give totally honest criticism of American Idol contestants. To her, every performance is great. Even the other night, when that Indian kid had an awful performance, she wouldn't admit it was a bad performance, and instead talked about what a "nice guy" he is. It was funny when Simon Cowell asked her "yes or no" if she liked it, and she beat around the bush, and Simon said "in other words, you didn't like it." And Paula didn't object to it.

When a performance is obviously bad, she'll just compliment the person's personality and choice of clothes, but won't actually critique the singing (which is what the competition is all about).

Randy and Simon gives honest criticism, despite the "boos" from the crowd -- and I respect that about them. Paula Abdul must be concerned about what everyone thinks about her. She's not really adding constructive criticism, when she says the exact same thing for every performer.

Brown Eyed Girl:
Well actually Jennifer Hudson never said she "wouldn't thank Simon Cowell." They asked her if she would thank Simon, and she just said she'd thank American Idol as a whole, and that would include Simon.

Well, she is trying to find what is good in the person. I don't think there's anything wrong with one of the judges taking this optimistic approach, as long as Simon and Randy are there to balance it out and point out the negative. She does give criticism about certain aspects of the performances, but she never out-and-out says she doesn't like the person or the performance. She is an advocate for the contestants and wants to point out what is good, maybe so they can capitalize on that.

Its because she doesn't want the audience to hate her. If shes the nice judge then nobody has a problem. Even Jennifer Hudson said that she wouldn't thank Simon....but she would thank Paula and Randy.....

*no actually....at the Dreamgirls premiere...Paula was there and she didn't know that Paula was behind her....and they asked her if she would thank Simon, and she said she wouldn't.....*i watch alot of entertainment news.....then she changed it for the oscars...

yet she does. in basic terms final week she mentioned she did no longer get Kristy Lee cook dinner's overall performance. some human beings in simple terms opt for to pay interest extra on the advantageous, and sitting next to Simon Cowell, it is likewise her place. The teach would not artwork if that they had 3 human beings all asserting they hated the overall performance.

I tottally agree. It's annoying. The contestants want criticisms not her petty compliments.

She is so annoying. She compliments people so much that anything she says has no meaning anymore. It's like someone who constantly apoligizes for the littlest things, you don't know when they are truely sorry.
