80 - 83 is pretty darn good for a 16 yr. old. The key, though, to a dominating pitcher at your age is control of the 83 mph pitch and how you keep hitters off your fastball w/ a good change up. Think of it this way, if you go to the batting cages and hit off the machine at any given MPH's you'll eventually catch up to it. Disrupting a hitters timing is how you become a GREAT pitcher. As for throwing a fork-ball (or split-finger) this will catch up to you with arm problems in the future. As a minor league pitcher for 10 yrs. I saw many of arms (elbows) get blown out by throwing this pitch. Work on a good circle change if you want to still be throwing a baseball in 20 years.

Well, it actually all depends on if you have developed yet, if you are having to shave a couple times a week, then you are in a lot of trouble(baseball wise). I did not know one kid that ever played at any level with me, that was 5'8' right-handed and threw 80-83, but if you haven't really developed, then you have a chance. My suggestions are: run, run, run some more(pitchers are only as good as thier endurance and leg stregnth) and long toss EVERYDAY(couple more MPH's, maybe). If you have developed already, you might be able to get your arm stregth a little better 83-85 mph. and that could get you a shot at going the junior college route.

Pretty good, but don't get big headed. STAY GROUNDED and remember you're no better than anyone else. That'll help you succeed in all you do.

its pretty good but its not rare. also you don't need that many pitches. work on a changeup ditch the splitter. get stronger. and work on your legs all year. legs is where the power is.
