Look, I believe we need to be serious about global warming...but I think Al Gore is a hypocrite.

He owns several HUGE homes and spends roughly 20 times the national average on utilities. He often uses private jets and rides around in a limo. Plus, I'm pretty sure he didn't take a bus or walk to the Oscars.
Yes, I know he buys "carbon offsets," which are basically the equivalent of "indulgences" given by the Catholic church many years ago. But, this man doesn't practice what he preaches.
Is he really serious about this global warming crusade, or is this just his way of getting the adoration and love he never got while he was Clinton's VP?

I guess you must have just missed that part?

the1despin: I probably do personally more to fight global warming than Al Gore ever dreamed of. My point was that this man keeps telling us to do things that even he is unwilling to do, because I don't think he really means what he says.

Crabby_bl: I didn't miss anything. I've heard about his converting his 20-room home to solar energy. You completely missed my point: I don't thing even Al Gore is serious about global warming. As I already stated above, He's just using the cause itself to get the adoration and notoriety he didn't get as Clinton's VP.

He needs to walk the talk if he expects to be a believable spokesman for the rest of the world to do without the comforts he is getting presently.

Apparently you missed the part of the news coverage that revealed that most of the stuff about Al gore's excesses were shown to be false--propaganda from some right-wing groups.

And the part about Gore converting his home to solar energy.

Plus a few other things--like common sense. Sure the man has a privatejet. What do you expect him to do --fly coach after the secret servie searches all the other pasengers?

A well-fed hypocrite.
Seriously, I do think he is serious about global warming. His family has been in politics all their lives. He was raised in a very modest house in west Tennessee and his Father was very well liked.

Al Gore is a hypocrite . He isn't the only liberal democrat in office who doesn't practice what they preach . They are of the mind-set that you do as I say - not as I do . Like most con-artists , they talk a good line..at first .

Oh, I am so tired of this question. So, he's just like all the other rich/famous people, so what? The earth is STILL in trouble, so I guess the rest of us just have to make up for him.
