In his documentry The inconvenient Truth, he says Americans need to cut back on energy , but he uses 20 times more energy than the average American uses.

Why doesn't he practice what he preaches?

Gore purchases enough energy from renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and methane gas to balance 100 percent of his electricity costs.

So yes, with carbon neutralization to boot, he removes as much carbon from the atmosphere as he puts in. In the end, he produces less greenhouse gas than anyone on Yahoo! Answers.

Sometimes when people don't like the message (in this case, that global warming is real), they find it convenient to attack the messenger.

Does he use 20x the energy of average homes adjusted for the difference in the size of his house? I doubt it. And what would you have him do then? Move out and live in a little solar-powered shack? If so, that act would mean that someone else would purchase his house who probably wouldn't bother offsetting his or her consumption and thus, by avoiding criticism from whiny little conservatives, he'd be doing much worse for the environment.

Speaking of solar-powered, there's a rumor going around that he's working on installing solar panels to help power his house. This pathetic little uproar is moot.

Al Gore was, is, and always WILL BE- a politician. And WHEN have you EVER heard of a politician practicing what they preach? Remember the guy who was going to make this a "kinder, gentler America"??? My point- exactly! :) So don't be too hard on ol' Al. He's no worse than the rest of us.

Good question & for all the poor Gore defenders. My daughter lives in the same city as Gore & owns a home with 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, living room, dining room, huge kitchen with a breakfast nook, great room, workout room, playroom, office, & media room & Gore's electrical biil is 11 times the cost of her house. he either needs to cut off some lights or get a smaller home for him & Tipper. His spokesman's excuse of he saves enough in other ways to make up for his excessive use in his home is crazy. Does that mean if I do not use excessice amounts at home then I do not need to try to save energy. Pleeease & from Mr. energy guru himself. Leave my SVU alone since my energy bill is 1/10th of Gore's.

For all the not a legitimate story folks - CNN & ABC have stories today on it & the only wrong fact was $200 a month difference in energy bill & that brought it down to $1900 according to power company. Still a whopping energy bill a month where he lives. According to power company 10 times the average for area.

Because he's found a popular cause to champion, one with powerful and high profile backers, and he figures that he can end up with more power, position, money and maybe even a Nobel prize by championing the cause. Like so many of the people who really get behind this sort of thing, he wants everyone else to change their life-style but considers himself to be on a different level, more deserving, and therefore exempt from the rules he thinks others should follow.

Because hes American, and thats what we do. We lechture people on what they need to do and how to do it, but then sit on our lazy cheeks and get fat from our fast food. lol, but seriously, he should practice what he preaches but at the same time hes letting us and our children know the potential dangers at hand and maybe we can work together and stop global warming.... which we all still havent made an effort towards.

Because he is of the do as I say and not as I do ilk. He created global warming out of his own hot air.
Like when he wanted people in third world countries to have less kids and be voluntarily sterilized and he has 4 or 5 kids.
It's all about him his awards, his noble peace prize and presidential aspirations and of course MONEY. I bet he has a lot invested in pushing this crap.

Because - like most leftists - he is a nanny. He looks around for what needs to be changed and then wants to FORCE people to do what he thinks should be done. Then he hops on his polluting private jet and goes to the next event.

This idea that people should be forced to do what you won't do yourself is one of the bases of leftism. Whenever you say, "the government should support x," you're saying that other people should be *forced* to spend their money on something.

The easy answer would be for people to give their own money and time to what they care about instead of forcing us to be like them, but it's easier to spend other people's money.

It's not charity to ease one's sympathy through theft of another's rights.
