I have two small turtles but I am looking to get another pet. I am a college student and I live in an apartment. What would be a good kind of pet for me to get?

Honestly? I'd wait to graduate untill getting another animal. I am a former student and there were weeks where I would have only a cup or maybe 2 of pasta a day just so my pet could get quality food and vet care when my other necessary bills are paied (ex rent, books, buss fare). Animals are expensive and they deserve the best. Maybe just put some cash away for untill you do graduate and then get an animal.

Note: I'm not a student at the moment because I had to take time off to make some money and get some savings built up.

I think a good pet would be a cat. A cat doesn't require you to be home alot to walk them and they are self sufficient. The only thing you have to do is be good about cleaning the litter box. I would go to the local animal shelter and get a cat that's homeless. I was never a cat person until recently when I found two abandoned sister cats and they are loving and wonderful pets to have. You can also get fish (some people don't consider fish an actual pet). Think about something small and a pet that doesn't require a lot of time and care

Its mainly dependant on you and your circumstances. Dogs are great but they are very dependant and don't like to be left alone for long periods(most apartments aren't set up for dogs either). Cats are more independent and don't have the same space constraints as a dog, but can often be more aloof, temperamental(also the turtles may not be safe).Rats, mice or maybe a ferret may be a better option, you may want to take into account that rats only live about 3yrs. Ferrets are active but can still be caged while your out, ensure the cage is sturdy as these creatures are extremely good at escaping. Rabbits or guinea pigs are quite nice but I tend to prefer animals that remind me when food time rocks around. Less usual types may be an option such as a snake or lizard. Miniature pigs are a nice alternative to a dog as they are also quite trainable.

Sorry if Ive been no help.
Good Luck with your suitable pet search.

Since you already have turtles, I'd continue with your "decorating scheme" and go with more aquatic pets (not in the same tank, of course). I love firebellied toads. They're clean, low maintanence, quiet, inexpensive, colorful, cool looking, and a really great pet. They sell for about $5 at a pet shop and are relatively small. They're a flashy green with a red belly and grow to like 3 inches big. They're really great and would really fit ina small apartment. Good luck in finding the perfect pet!

In my opinion cats are a pain and real stinky. I would get some fish. Guppies are real colorful (males) and if you get females, they breed quickly. You can then feed the baby guppies to your turtles. Talk about saving money on pet food! I breed my own feeder guppies for my frogs. You'll be starting your own little eco system. What's better than that for a college student? Of course, then maybe invest in a cat to eat the turtles? lol

Bearded Dragons are a pretty neat pet. Should check into that.
If you're looking to move out of the reptile business, i had a ferret growing up. Very cute and playful. But must clean the cage often, they can get smelly if you leave their "stuff" in there.

Whatever pet you have learned the most about
A stuffed toy
A pet rock.
Think about what happens once you've graduated. You will be establishing yourself in your new carreer. No time for pets.

get a couple of rats. i'm a student to and my boys love to cuddle up with me while i study. if i get to stressed over the material my younges one will run up and kiss my face. they have to be kept in same sex pairs though because they are social and tend to get lonley if you cannot devote lots of time to them.

Cats are great. They are independent yet give lots of affection. Good company when you're lonesome.
