Has anyone tried dying their carpet while it was on the floor, and did you have good results.

I guess I forgot to mention that I wanted to cover up some big spots, because scrubbing them only seems to make the spots worse.

I worked for a carpet cleaning company for a couple months many years ago. The boss used to die carpets for some apartment complexes. It was usually to cover a large stain, instead of replacing the carpet. It seemed to work pretty good.

i havnt heard of anyone dying thier carpet at my age, maybe in the past, but i think that it wouldnt be cost efficient to do so, if you dye your carpet ( given that its a neutral color ) it would leak through your floor boards and onto the first floor if your doing it on a second floor or you live in a second floor apt, dye itself costs a fair amount now multiply it by the square footage of the rug area, i would assume for the same price you would be able to get a brand new carpet without the hassel and damage cuased by the dye
