I met my husband when I was 14, He was 16. We got married one month after my 16th birthday ( as soon as I was leagal) I am now going on 21 and still married. I still love him. The only problem with younger people getting married is loosing thier independence. When you get married you are no longer two individuals but rather ONE couple. That is the hardest thing for younger couples to understand once married. Also married is not some Fantasy love story either. You rarely have time for eachother and its hard for women to understand why their husband would rather go out with the guys. Going out with the guys does not mean that a husband does not love you anymore!!! Its like when a women just wants to soak in the tub alone for 20 minutes. I'm sure that guys are not like " OH SHE WOULD RATHER SOAK IN THE TUB THAN BE WITH ME BOO HOO" women are very emotional and tend to take things to the extreme. Men find it hard to understand why thier wife may be so upset. and thats why most marraiges fail. As long as they set at least a day a week to spend together, and really explain how they feel when they are upset. it will be just fine.

Actually the statistics point out that 50% of marriages end up in divorce.. And they don't tell you what that 50 percent is made out of. 80% of that 50 % are 2,3,4,and 5 times divorced people. The people who make up that 50 % divorce rate are people that had started out with one divorce and fell back into the same pattern, and here stats show that they're very likely to do so. If we were to discount the people who were married five times already I think the percentage will lower considerably.
Thus being said, you friend's chance is as good as anybody's. Marriage is what you make of it, and believe it or not, it is doable. It takes mature people who know what they want , who are committed, and who have enough love to make up for the rest.

Haha, anyone who's smart wouldn't even enter into a serious committment before age 30, much less actually get married. No the success rate of it working at such a young age is most definitely not very good.

I got married younger than that and I'm still married and more in love then ever. It is wonderful experience but it is also very hard at times. And anyone entering into a marriage must be aware of these things. Good luck to your friends.

The chances of 20 year olds getting married and staying married is very slim because of the maturity aspect plus not to mention many 20 year olds are too busy having fun to think about getting married and want to date and sex as many ppl as they can before they hit 25 and then start thinking about marriage.

It's not very good but if you are willing to put the hard work it takes to keep a marriage going, you can beat the odds. We did and we are going strong after over 36 years.
