Yes,my son is 11 and has ADHD and he is well controlled on Ritalin. He takes it in the morning and school gives him a low dose at noon. The rest of the time he is off the meds. It takes a little patience and a lot of love and understanding but so far so good. My daughter who is now 20 had ADD and was on a drug called cylert for a while but they said it wasn't safe. As she got older she just learned to do without even though she probably could still use a little something but she refuses. LOL
And do have your child tested by pediatric neurologists.

Everyone thinks their kids have ADHD or ADD today. As a teacher I see it daily. It is our society's was of 'copping out' on making kids and parents be responsible! Make sure that your child is tested comprehensively for this before you medicate!

it is complex. i don't understand the different variations and waht to expect at diffeent ages. too deep. my son digs ditches and has it. my daughter has a phd and a high paying tenured position. my son works seven days a week to make ends meet. he is very hard to get along with. irritable and unpredictable. he is able to do his job and keep his house clean. cannot get along with girls for long. they lose interest in him. it kills me. didn't get help for him years ago. nor did his damn mother. it is such a widespread mess that the f---ing politicians ignore except a little hearing on cspan now and then which nobody much watches. a column in the back of the news paper. etc.need a new broom to sweep out the congress and form a new more efficient government. it will take something very very radical to turm this ship around before it runs aground and i think we are nearly there. i looking for my own life boat. hope my son will join me. my brains still work he has a strong body. id like for our people to return to ireland, england, scotland, germany, denmark eetc. let the iraqis, iranians, jews and rest fight it out. let the latinos, mixed breeds and blacks fight it out here. the great experient was an interesting time ini world but it is hisotry. it is over. face it.

Be sure to check if your child is not sensitive to sugar and preservatives...or taking too much sodas. we see children in the ED who drink 3 sodas a day need Ritalin...yes I would too with so much sodas a board. When my son when to primary school the teacher said he is hyper active I corrected her and told her he was an active healthy young boy....I am sure he does not eat sugar as when he does he bounces of the wall. See source and go to health articles, ADD.

My brother has it, and he is 11. We only give it to him on school days, and he does very well with it. He is taking Concerta. He has straight A's, and on the weekend he is just a wacky child that we have grown used to, and rather enjoy. He started out on Adderall, and did rather well with it as well. Good Luck 2 U.

Strattera has been a lifesaver for my family.
There's also Concerta, Ritalin, and Focalin, to name a few.
