Yes , LIBERALS did that.
January 20, 1961- John Fitzgerald Kennedy is inaugurated as the 35th U.S. President and declares "...we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to insure the survival and the success of liberty." Privately, outgoing President Eisenhower tells him "I think you're going to have to send troops..." to Southeast Asia.

It's very convenient for them to forget anything that doesn't help them get the White House in the next election, and they've been working on it from the day Bush got in there.
Like forgetting about the chemical weapons Saddam had that killed thousands of people...and they conveniently say "they didn't exist"....and do you ever hear anyone admitting they were there?
And conveniently ignoring how many people died when the Anti-War activists got the troops pulled out of Viet Nam..... I heard someone ask Jane Fonda "remember all the people who died last time?"...what about all the Iraqi people who will die..? He answer...it's all the Administration's fault!"...she couldn't care less how many of them die in the process of their agenda. Made me ick!
Or wanting no one to replay the blowing up of the Towers because that reminds people why we are fighting terrorists.
and then translating what happened into everything is Bush's fault.....yes their memory is very convenient ...and why should we sit and let them do it again?

You are totally wrong. We were sending advisors as early as 1950. In the summer of 1963, it was obvious that President Diem was out of control and needed to be replaced. The decision was made that the US could no longer support the regime and wanted out. The State Dept, Pentagon, National Security Council and even the lying CIA made the decision to get out. Kennedy totally agreed with that. However, LBJ did NOT. It was actually announced in the papers on the day Kennedy was shot that he would not run for re-election with Johnson as a running mate. Later that day, Johnson became President (I own a copy of the paper from that day with the article in it). Johnson escalated it into a full scale war. Johnson was not considered a democrat by any stretch of the imagination. He may have been the "Civil Rights President" but he was hardly a liberal. Leave Kennedy out of it. Apparently Kennedy was not even aware that the CIA was operating in Viet Nam conducting assainations. It was Johnson's war - not Kennedy's. Get your facts straight.

Thats funny my father who was shot and awarded the purple heart and is a disabled veteran of the vietnam war always said that if Kennedy had never been assassinated we would have withdrawn sooner from that war.Just my personal opinion though just like the guy on my street that got into an argument that the second war in iraq had "nothing" to do with oil and he believes that!!!!!......I think people should know better.

Im a democrat and youre right, Bottoms and Nixon eventually pulled us out. Of course, Nixon pulled some dufus stunts against the Democrats and it cost him plenty.
It really doesnt matter which side of the aisle the politician is from. The American people wants politicians that have integrity. BTW, nice outfit.

Is there a point to this question, or are you just asking it so people can agree with you? Yes, Nixon got us out of Vietnam because we were taking a beating for no reason. You should remember that by today's standards Nixon would have never been nominated by the Republican party because modern Republicans would consider him to be too liberal.

Wasn't Eisenhower a Republican??
I thought Republicans were conservatives.
Who escalated the war?--Nixon--a Republican
Who benefited from the War? Big business, the Republicans bedfellow.

Good grief. Have you learned nothing from history except how to place blame? The real lessons of Viet Nam are not to go in without a plan, to make sure you have allies who will support you, to make sure the war is worth it and not just based on rumors, and to get out if you can't win. Obviously, Bush and co. learned none of these lessons, nor did you. Oh yeah, he went AWOL and Cheney got 5 deferments. Real leadership material.

I didn't forget. And I disagree with that too, but that certainly doesn't justify Bush's actions.
It was wrong then and it's wrong now.
Yes, Democrats can do wrong things just like Republicans.
Nixon didn't really have much of a choice.
If only Americans protested today like they did back then. Of course, media coverage of the protests today leaves something to be desired.

Ok, I won't dispute that.
But are you saying this to propose that the republicans felt they were "owed" a turn by that?
Some liberals I know are playing the issue as "we learned from the last time how messed up it could become, so we're against it now".
