Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

There, now you at least know what the amendment says. You're going to have to persuade me to tell you anything more about what it means or how it is enforced.

Bear in mind that until 1869, the amendment had no effect on state law whatsoever, other than through the authority accorded by the Supreme Court as manufactured out of whole cloth by John Jay, and it continues to be tweaked and re-interpreted to this day.
