they are so difficult!!! to insert and stuff! why?

They aren't any more difficult than a plastic applicator if you relax when inserting them.
Secondly, people make them because they're biodegradable. Plastic is not. They're MUCH better for the environment.
Lastly, they're flushable- Again plastic is not.
My opinion, OB's applicator tampons (off the market for several years now) were the best ones EVER. Now I use their non-applicator and won't use anything else.
If the applicator is uncomfortable for you, try the non applicator. You may have better luck. We're all built differently in there and some of us have more 'bends in the road' than others which may make an applicator uncomfortable.

Ok, first of all I think you mean tampon applicators (not cardboard tampons...ouch). They make them because they are more environmentally safe. The cardboard is biodegradable, the plastic will be around for decades or longer. You can buy them now that the applicator is thinner and more pliable for comfort.

well the only part that is cardboard is the outside part...I guess they started with that and since now they have other options they keep that because it's usually the cheapest....people that are older are used to cardboard so they probably don't want to change if they are comfortable with that...thats just my guess :)

That would be the applicator. Without it you would never get one in. I hear the pearl ones are OK. Something about glides or something. I forgot what they are called.
