Straight from Wiki:
"The term Big Bang is used both in a narrow sense to refer to a point in time when the observed expansion of the universe (Hubble's law) began — calculated to be 13.7 billion (1.37 à 1010) years ago (± 2%) "
Here's a great timeline showing what happened immediately following the Big Bang (or what we believe happened):

The big bang occurred a very short time after time zero.
The smallest time pulse that could exist emerged about 10 to the minus 95 seconds from zero.

This is an extremely complex question. The number most often given is some 15 billion years ago. However, this number appears to be fairly meaningless, as it must be examined within a narrow and incomplete context, and science has not been able to define the context very well. Therefore, although this is a good number to cite, it is not really a good number to believe as absolutely (close to being) accurate.

Well...it's like this....About 15 billion years ago God was kicking back with his family....and boredom set in...so he created the big bang to give him and his family a hobby. The universe!

Yup, 13.7 billion years give or take an eon or two. 4.5 billion years is the age of the earth. 15 billion years was the estimated age before the Hubble telescope solved the Hubble constant.

When God created the heaven's and all that is in it..The big bang is what we call the result of him doing it.
