I personally use American Express because of the points. I always use my points for free airline tickets and the card has no limit. I can charge what I want without it affecting my credit. I charge up to 10k a month and pay it in full by the due date.

I also really like Discover. It is not accepted by a lot of places, but you get a percentage back on all purchases and the cut off dates and due dates are more generous.

The best card for you will depend on the categories (gas, grocery, restaurants, etc.) in which you spend $5K per month. This is because lots of rewards cards pay different rewards percentage rates (up to 6%) in different categories.

To quickly see which card will pay you the most rewards for *your* spending profile, check out the rewards calculator at http://www.creditcardtuneup.com/ .

American Express is undoubtedly the best card to use if you pay in full each month. The rewards points can be used to purchase fantastic merchandise, airline tickets, hotel stays, cruises, etc. Fantastic card, excellent service.

You should not be charged interest if you pay the bill in full every month.
If you want a high limit and pay it off every month you might consider an American Express card.

I would look for a card that offers cash rewards. Cards that offer points you can trade in for inflated priced merchanidse or services can be limiting. Cash is good anywhere. Mine is through Chase. When I've acquired enough points, I just request a check and they send it to me.

For me, there's no such thing as best credit card. Spend only what you can afford is my motto when it comes to shopping. :P
