The way I see things going here in the U.S. I just see the future here becoming a third worl country eventually. The working middle class is disappearing slowly. We only support the poor people and criminals in this country by giving them free beds and food. The middle class working families, most of them don't have health insurance and cant get it cause they make too much to get medicaid or medicare wich ever it is for the poor people. In my opinion if you are a working person the United States all companies should be forced by law to give out paid health insurance. Unfortunately corporate companies like walmart and dillards have the benefits of screwing the working people and it upsets me that our government would let companies under pay and not even give them health insurance paid. What do you see our future as an American?

We all depend on Technology to save us.... but we are stupid.

Those Middle Eastern guys can come over and take over this land.... Do you know how many Muslims there are in USA and around the world? And most Christians wouldn't care if Muslims
take over this country.... because USA is a sinful country.

100 years ago the United States was the richest and most powerful country in the world with the largest middle class of any country anywhere, we weren't policing the world on behalf of all the ungrateful nations of the world, and there was no such thing as Social Security, Welfare, Medicare, Medicade, or universal health care! This country was founded on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You had the freedom to go to school, get an education, and be success -or- be a complete and total bum. The choice WAS and still IS yours! Therefore the United States who leads the world in technology and innovations will NEVER be a third world country!

That being said.......... it's hard for me to stomach listening to people complain about the rising costs of medical insurance, gasoline, and corporate proffits when Americans seem to have PLENTY of cash for I-pods, music downloads, razor phones, cigarettes, alcohol, fast food, designer jeans, and gas guzzling SUV's. Funny how we as a culture seem to have plenty of money for the things we want, but we always cry poverty for the things we think the government should be giving us for free!

Look to other countries with models that work. I live in a country which has a minimum wage you can live on, employers have to pay superannuation to you even if you are casual, we all have free basic health and cheap drugs, and if you want to take out private health cover, the government pays 1/3. It is a relatively small drain on the system when you think about how much preventable disease and loss of productivity are avoided.

In terms of being a third world country, in some respects you already are, technically. criteria such as adult literacy, health care, reliance on primary production, vulnerability to natural disaster, trade imbalance and debt.... and the fourth world resides in the form of the disenfranchised indigenous peoples. My country is precisely the same.

We all need governments with a longer term view. dog eat dog economics benefits the rich, you need a fairer system and you'll stride ahead.

Yes that's what the devil would want and Bush is doing a great job! Isn't he! And then when the Bank of America keeps giving credit cards out well I guess the bank insurers will soon realize that they will make it totally impossible for any of us to pay the high interest rates on the credit cards because of this robbery well yeah the government gets all the property and the richest and the poorest that's all we'll have---- a third world country!

You can judge the condition of the USA by looking at New Orleans over a year after the flooding. This would be an embarrassment for a third world country let alone the richest nation the world has ever seen.

Well we are taking a dangerous path I think eventually will finally realize the mistakes we made. The United States is a free country however we should not allow the rest of the world to be alone in the dark when it comes to technology and simple freedoms. I think the reason why we have all this violence over in those regions of the middle east is that they are mad because they cannot progress as far as technologies goes. Iran is happy that it can build technologies because they lack it and they lack the supplies to become a free country all these countries are being put in the dark.

Sorry my friend but you're wrong. Third world no, non exitent yes. Think about it, We're at war against an enemy who will do such a thing as 9/11/ . Washington plays politics over whether we should even fight back.
The liberal press left out such details as B.L. sent a declaration of war to Clinton, stating the front line would be Iraq.
Again, politics fails to close our borders. Be an illegal. get a credit card. no need in some states
to be legal to get a drivers license.
Just slip across our border and you get more privalages than our own.
You come first. our own can wait in line. And have more restrictions.
In the meantime a terrorrist can just walk through to.
Hey, it's just America who'll miss it? Who'll care? olhip48

Maybe 2nd World but not 3rd. The more jobs that are shipped to countries like India and China, the higher the chances of this happening. Also our inability to be self-sufficient may result in our demise.

Most science believe that we are in the 4 world with the 5th coming very soon. Some believe that we are in the 5th now...non believe that there will be a 6th.....so no, we will never be in the 3rd world again. It's too bad, it would have been nice to have another chance wouldn't....
So I guess this is where we say good bye, hope to see you on the otherside.

WOW, do you think?? Sweetheart, we are a 3rd world country. Not only that we are so in debt to China that should they call our loans due, all you are going to see is more Chinamen everywhere in this country. They own America now.. Just to keep you abreast of things , the current Administration sold out this country. We as Americans don't exists anymore. I know it is hard to accept, give it another month, then look at this question.
