I have a question! I am wanting to get my childs last name changed to my new last name. I just got married in Sept of 06 and my daughter still has my maiden name and i would like to have it changed to my new last name. What process do i need to go threw to have this done in WV?
Any help is much appreciated!!!

Call your local courthouse and ask them how to go about doing this and what you have to do to get it done. You may also want to contact and attorney about this as well. I wish you the best and hope you can do this:) Hugs to you today. When your daughter gets older she may also change her last name if she wants to as well.

You need to go to the register of deeds in your local courthouse. They hold all the records you are going to need and have the forms you'll need to make the switch. I will caution you, some states are rather expensive when it comes to their fees for doing this. Believe it or not, they charge by the letter in the name!

Wish you luck and hope the name is short.
