Go into your BIOS and check the clock/multiplier. If the system ever crashed or had a hardware problem the CPU would typically reset itself to the lowest setting available for troubleshooting purposes. If everything is stable currently you should be able to reset it.

What properties?? What are you looking at to tell you what kind and the speed of the processor?
Press the Windows flag key (lower right of keyboard) and the pause/break key (top right) at the same time - this will bring up System Properties - there it will tell you your processor.
If it is an Athlon 1.5 rather than the Sempron - consider yourself lucky!! :)

Be sure you have the right bios and drivers installed for the chip. I have never experienced this problem, be certain that the chip is a 2 GHz by checking the model numbers printed on the chip.

athlon and amd are the same thing.....2ghz is the max speed the processor will go.....right now its set at 1.5 ghz...... you can speed it up if you want in the DOS start up screens...... its default setting is probably 1.5ghz
