I don't think it's the rape itself that is so horrific, but the way everyone treats it. Foster's character isn't a clean cut good girl, so she gets a lot of "Well, if she was raped she was probably askin' for it.
It was a made for TV movie, don't know if you can rent it, but check out http://www.imdb.com and find out the next time it'll be on.

Please tell me that you aren't serious. ANY woman being raped is horrific, but to be publicly GANG RAPED in a bar while no one did anything to help is beyond horrific.
As for "Goosh T", a woman being raped has absolutely NOTHING to do with the way she is dressed! It is about control, dominating and subjecting pain and fear. I am so completely disgusted right now with your answer, and that you think a woman should EXPECT to be raped because of what she's wearing. How dare you?!!!! You need to grow up sparky.

I dont know about horrific but it was intense to say the least especially for films at that time.
