Iverson without a doubt

this is a no brainer

in a 1 on 1 matchup you have yao ming who has been voted as one of the slowest players in the league against Iverson who is one of the fastest

Iverson gets an open shot on every possession if not a lay up. Iverson also gets to every loose ball

meanwhile yao ming has to dribble his way to a good shot from the 3 point line which isn't his game and we all know stamina isn't a strength of yao

backing a player down is illegal in the NBA (see the Mark Jackson rule) so yao would have to dribble for awhile or shoot jumpers and yao can't hit all of his jumpers and Iverson has ery sticky fingers especially when the dribbler is 7 foot 6

Have a make it take it game to 21 Iverson probably wins 21-0 or at the most 21-3

I can see the point of view of all the people who say AI would win but whenever you have a good big guy against a good small guy you have to go for the big guy.

One on one is playground rules, not NBA rules so fouls don't get called unless you get knocked over and backing down is perfectly ok.

The defender has an advantage in that they don't have to move much to get between the ball and the hoop so AI's speed & stamina wont help as much as it does in a full court game.

When AI has the ball he is going to score most of the time but Yao will block at least some of his shots and anytime AI misses Yao is getting the rebound. Also AI is not that good a 3 point shooter. There are no screens so AI wont be getting easy layups, Yao will just block him from behind.

When Yao has the ball I think he is good enough that AI wont be stealing it that much and all he has to do is get to the free throw line to shoot (he is an 86.7% free throw shooter). AI is not going to be blocking Yao and if Yao misses he will get a lot of rebounds.

Can't believe everyone went with Iverson. Yao Ming. Yao's shooting percentage would be 90%. Just back down the little dude and dunk. Pretty simple.

I think Iverson would win because he would be able to steal the ball from yao and drive past yao for layups and if yao gave ground iverson could just sink a mid-range jumper. good question

As much as I hate Iverson, he would win.
This is a standard match up that every PG and SG tries to get during an NBA game, a defense is only as good as the slides they get. Offense's advantage is getting mismatches and isolations (1 on 1).
This argument works for any PG, they are just too quick to not be able to burn Yao.

That’s crazy! I would go for AI if it were for 21 points or more, but if it’s a 12 point win game, and winner takes out the ball, maybe Ming would win. In an NBA game…. I hate to say AI , but speed and stamina take over height any day in a 48 min game.

AI could lose to shaq a million on a million cuz shaq could in simple terms returned him into the hollow each time for the basic dunk. and because there will be no one else to double team shaq and make him pass the ball, it is going to be each and all of the extra extra basic. AI could beat Yao however, in basic terms becuz Yao would not be responsive to the thank you to apply his length, He'd settle for a shootout against AI. and once you are trying this, you lose.

size my brother...every body has his advantages but iverson would win...
reason
---------
he is faster
better dribbler
good shooter
can defend
attack rim
yao probably can do most but he has got to dribble man and thats the problem, he'll lose the ball in a blink of the eye....but what do i know i'm not a b-ball fan.
