512 MB is the minimum for average performance
1 GB for better performance
2 GB or more for best performance
Video memory:
64 MB - Minimum
128 MB - Average
256 MB or more - Best
If you have 128 or more, you can run Aero Glass
Hope this helps!

The "sweet spot" for Vista seems to be 2-4Gb this was noted by a developer at a conference that noted that vista seemed to like it best when it had 4 gigs of Ram. The sweet spot with XP was 2 Gb. I had vista on 1.5 gigs and it seem to do ok. I say go for it. Get more ram if you can afford it.

1 GB will work fine, but I'd definitely recommend getting 2-4 GB. I have 1 GB, but I really need to upgrade to 2 GB, because using Photoshop totally eats up that entire 1 GB when used with Vista's Aero theme.

1gb is fine, but you can't go wrong with 2gb. Depends on your requirements. Games will suck up a lot of that ram. The nice thing is you can do 1gb and if it turns out it's not enough, you can add more. If you start with 2gb, you'll never really know if 1gb would have worked for you.

I have Vista with one gig ram. I have not found any of my games to have any problems. The more the better of coarse, but is not needed at this point unless you choose to. You should be fine.

One gig is the minimum. Knowing the microsoft penchant for RAM waste, you'll want the second.
