Clearly, many people are searching for something - spirituality, love, peace, respect, success. Some never get over setbacks and some never have experiences that live up to expectations. If you have a void and nothing seems to fill you to satisfaction, see a therapist or your clergyman or practice yoga. Finding yourself is the first step in filling the void.

I know exactly what you are talking about! I thought that if I completed my graduate degree I would feel better about who I am and I really don't. I thought that if I had a child that my life would feel complete and I really don't even though I love my daughter. I thought that once I set a goal and fulfilled it I would feel complete and I still have that hole inside. I guess the hole can only really be completed when you are content with what you have in life no matter where you are at and that you have a positive impact on other's lives. I don't really know but I wish you well in fulfilling that hole and if you come across what it is, please share!

Yes. For some reason I have this deep yearning for respect and admiration. Then when I get it, I play it off and act like what I've done was no big deal. I constantly find myself doing nice things for my friends and family to make them happy, but I'm never satisfied with their reaction. So I end up being a jackass because they don't act as appreciative or as impressed as I think they should be. I've tried keeping a lower profile, but for some reason I feel like I have something to prove. Not sure why. Why? What are you trying to fill YOUR empty hole with???

My husband and I both feel like that right now. We have waited to have a family for years and we have been trying to have a family for over a year and a half right now. I get so down about it sometimes. We just have to help each other cope and keep banging away! LOL :)

That's a spiritual hunger for God. Reach out to others that have learned how to fill that God void.
