Yes, the main reason is to stop oppressing the poor, and free up jails.... next, it will reduce crime.and increase tax revenues... which means police can do useful things rather than chasing bad guys with guns selling drugs......

had a recent discussion with someone else on y/a about this.
Your contention that it has less harmful chemicals is only considering the variety of chemicals and not the quantity.

I do not believe that legalizing it will have a beneficial result. I do think that alot of joe public people in jail for a personal use bag of pot is a waste of tax payer money though.

Marijuana should be legalized. The cost to society of enforcing the current legal regime is greater than the likely cost of allowing people to just use the stuff. Alcohol is clearly a greater danger to society than marijuana and it does more damage to the human body.

I don't use the stuff, but I'd rather see it available and taxed than not available and criminal.

It definately should be. Thousands of people die every year from alcohol related health problems/alcohol poisoning not to mention drunk driving. There has never been death from health problems related to marijuana ever. The smoke in marijuana is much healthier than that of cigarettes, and there is, in fact, evidence that marijuana protects brain cells instead of destroying them.

Absolutely, alcohol is much more of a gateway drug that pot, plus alcohol also kills a ton of people. I don't smoke pot and I do drink occasinoally. So with that said, you don't have to be a smoker to support legalization. Just look how much money the Netherlands rakes in off weed every year!

Prostitution should be legalized as well. As George Carlin once put it. "Selling is legal...F*cking is legal... So why isn't selling f*cking legal???"

Cannabis was also the source of most paper, rope, and sailcloth for hundreds if not thousands of years. ("canvas" comes from "cannabis")

The Declaration Of Independence was written on hemp paper, Betsy Ross' flag was made of hemp, and it is an excellent oil crop for biodoesel purposes, as well as being an excellent biomass fuel for methanol production.

Do some more research, because you're on the right track, but the commercial and industrial uses of hemp are among the reasons it was prohibited in the first place (it competed with the then-new patents for nylon, petroleum fuels, and Dupont's woodpulp papermaking process).

first it will never happen until they develop a test that can identify the time you used.alcohol leaves the body in hours, weed in months,so they cant determine a DUI timeline.
Second, weed contains less chemicals but more tar than the average cigarette per use(and you do push it deeper into the lungs for a better high)so it has a better chance for lung cancer
my personal belief: why not,as long as its in moderation.Oh yeah, the anti- people are right by the way,but I think it should be a choice up to ones self, like tobacco

I do not believe alcohol should be legal. So no why have another mind altering chemical that makes driving difficult to do well.
