If u really need a good, cheap, inexpensive phone, you should go with a boost mobile handset. rates are extremely cheap, no contracts, cancel anytime, and no hidden fees. the thing i like about boost mobile's service, is that they have GPS, full sms/text messaging, full Instant Messaging (msn, yahoo, aol), unlimited nation-wide walkie talkie ($1 per day only when used, it's hell of a lot cheaper than talking if u plan to conversate for more than 5 minutes, plus u can also "chirp" nextel users as well), Java games/apps (to help keep you occupied when you're bored), ringtones, wallpaper/pictures, blue-tooth (i875 and i885), voicemail, call tones, free roaming, unlimited U.S. long distance included (no extra charges), and extremely good coverage in most areas (unlike most carriers). though u don't find internet access necessary, you can get most of this stuff by enabling it anyway, only .20 cents a day for unlimited usage. an even cooler thing about having it enabled, is that if u have a laptop/desktop computer, since ur in college, with an attatchment cable, u can plug one end into ur phone, and the other end into ur computer, you can use that as your (wireless)internet access without eating up airtime, saving you lots of money, that u don't need to be spending on an internet provider, which is very convenient. their phones are cheap and durable. this would be a good time for you to buy one, since they are consistently lowering their prices.
hope this helps.....

The cheapest plan right now is Sprint's SERO plan. It's 500 minutes a month with internet for $30. There is a 2 year contract, though. You've gotta Google for it, as it's not an advertised plan.
If your credit is less than perfect or you just prefer being able to cancel anytime, the cheapest prepaid providers are Net10, Amp'd and T-Mobile ToGo. When comparing other prepaid providers, be sure to check for "hidden" daily/usage fees and add up the cost-per-minute.
If you're a light usage user, the best deal presently (until the 3rd of March) is to buy a $100 T-Mobile airtime card at Target for $88 and they'll throw in a Nokia 6030 for free. You'll get 1,000 minutes and won't have to refill until you use up all your minutes or a year (whichever comes first).

im on vodaphone not on a plan. i just buy $30 credit or whatever i need. You dont get locked into a contract. u just buy more credit when it runs out. u just use it within two months. so if you bought $20 it could last u 2 months
( u just have to make sure you dont buy too much!)
