Everything that these people are telling you is crazy!!! All you need to do to flow is take a poetry class maybe or perhaps study the dictionary of rhyme... From there either tell a story in your flows or read alot of newspapers and books and when you write flows... Write from the heart and not about bs like bling bling and bs like that... Be an individual if you ever want to get good... If you are not yourself than you are nobody... Check out myspace for independant hip hop and you can see how its done... I recommend macklemore, aesop rock, brother ali, sage francis, benefit, sapient, sandpeople, modalogic etc.... Then listen and add the groups and emcees on their top 8... Good luck!

Rap is an art that is picked up in the streets, usually the ghettos. I am not sure of your age. Unfortunately if this is something you want to do i must tell you it is something that is aquired by where you are brought up, generally the area, if you happen to have gone to a school in the area, the people you hang around, neighborHOOD, etc...
If you are older, 18 + and are "tough" enough and i dont mean like "fake" cause if you are don't even bother....start shadowin some of the dive bars in the "ghettos" and hang out in the back and stuff but like i said keep a low profile don't make yourself all known when you first start hanging out...slowly get to know the regulars and stuff .perhaps if you get to know the regulars it will be safe for you to venture out into the streets...whatever you do don't go out into the streets alone...it takes time to get to know the "culture" before you can get to know the art...if you get to know the art you might be able to rap about it.
You see to be able to really rap you gotta be able to have something to rap about. Real rap takes time and emotions built on the art. To learn the art you need to learn the culture.
oh and don't get wrapped up in coke...maybe weed or something but don't get wrapped up in nothing hard core ...just don't get wrapped up in the whole drug thing...
