Suppose you have a large coffee can full of pennies. How can you estimate how much money the can contains without counting all the coins?(HINT: What is the relationship between the mass of pennies and the number of pennies?)

Find the weight of one penny. Then take the total weight of the can of pennies, and subtract the weight of the can. Divide the remainder by the weight of the single penny.

Count and weigh a smaller number of pennies like 10 pennies. Then divide into the weight of the can full of pennies.

Fill a small cylinder with pennies (count them) and take the ratio of the volumes to calc the pennies in the larger can. The volume of a can is pi*r^2*h.
