I'd hang on to it if I were you -- jobs these days are very hard to come by. Besides, being a legal secretary is something that can work into a very lucrative career if you just bide your time.

I don't know, last time I heard, secretaries made about that much. I guess it makes the time and effort you're putting into school even more worth it. Plus, when it's all over, you will have respect for people that have jobs like yours now. That's something A LOT of people do not have lately. Here's some advice though.......get a job @ Starbucks. You will make at least the same amount of money - probably more - and you will have fun!!!! You will also get full benefits with three different stock options for only 20 HOURS A WEEK!!!!!!! Plus you get 1lb of coffee free every week, (or a box of tea if you're not a coffee drinker), Woo Hoo! Very flexible schedule on top of it. Can you tell I work there? I love it and I bet you would to.

Clearly you probably don't think it's that great it you're asking this question. I would look for a job that relates, even in the most remote way, to what you are majoring in. I just graduated and you can't imagine how much any kind of experience will help when you get done.
There are many other factors that go into the decision other than pay as well. Is the place flexible? Being in school, you can often have projects, meetings, or other events spring up all of a sudden and you may need off work. If they don't work with you, I'd quit right away.

look for a new one or ask for a raise. Keep the job but continue to look for others. They're being cheap with you, they figure "oh just a secretary, we'll pay them 7.50 for the title" but in reality no doubt soon enough you'll be doing work for them that a secretary shouldn't have to do. Low pay is a clear indicator of such. Stay there to build some experience, then take it up to the next level.. for example, you'll have experience answering phones, staying organized, clear verbal skills , typying skills, computer skills.. probably knowledge of some software or other legal terms. Dominate! So that you can get a job that pays more for the same or less work! One that might give you benefits, 401k or pension.. stuff like that. You can do it.

Well, you have to consider your location (cost of living), flexibility in work schedule (since you go to school), and work that you are doing. I would say that is kind of low for a law office secretary. If the people there drive nice luxury cars then they could afford to pay more. You should look in the job listings just to get an idea of the other jobs and their pay.

its a good job if you live with someone paying your rent & bills.
If you live on your own its terrible.
I live on my own and all my bills including food, rent(1bdrm), car payments, insurance, tv, internet, utilities, gasoline, cell phone = about 1800$ per month. That doesnt include money to buy clothes, go out, or anything else. 7.50 is a terrible wage. (its actually the min wage in my state. If you ever plan to live on your own, you need to make at least 15 dollars per hour to feel comfortable. Even then if you dont manage your money right, you could find yourself out of money every once in a while

It sounds like a good job while putting your self through college but it all comes down to whether you are happy and enjoy working that job.

You are seriously underpaid. They are defnitely taking advantage of you. If you've been there a while, take the experience you've gained and move on to a better job. You should be getting double this wage.

You don't say what state you live in....so it's hard to say exactly....BUT...I'm thinking $7.50 is pretty low for a secretary.
