what is the advantages and disadvantages of information technology(it) in our lives?

as a tool IT leverages human abilities as other tools do...this tool can leverage intellectual tools such as calculations to an extent never before known. on the down side it may also be a crutch and a dehumanizer... who needs to know how to multiply with the proliferation of calculators..who needs human control when machines can do it--sometimes better.
