If this has been going on for over 2 yrs... you really do need to see someone that specalizes in ortho medicine. I have ALOT of knee pain.. it is from a fall I took when I was pregnant.. and protecting my belly.. went flat on my knee caps... they now have little bur's behind them.. and catch at times..... it also lead to a wonderful thing called arthritus.. which I am having a flare up of right now...

Talk to a physical therapist if you can.. get exercises that you can do at home to strength the muscles around the joint... also I hear alot of good things about OTC med's to help build and condition the cartalige... something to look into at least...

Good luck.. I know how hard it is to live with knee pain...

See a physical therapist if you can. If that is out of the question then go to a local college and ask to see the trainer and tell him or her the problem. You might have some ligament damage and the swelling won't go down till you can stay off it for awhile. I would try taking some Tylenol or Ibuprofen to get the swelling down.

Peace

It is time for you to invest in your health. Depending on the state where you live, you may be able to see a physical therapist without referral from the doctor (true in most states).

Go to APTA.org, click on "find a PT", and search for one in your area who is a specialist in orthopedic or sports PT (OCS or SCS after their name).

Many small clinics will give you a discount if you pay by cash or check on the date of the service.

Good luck!

you are going to think that i am crazy but if you have some really hot peppers around the house, smash them up and rub that on your knee.Peppers that are hot have capsicum in then and the heat of that should stop some of the pain.
