The Ides of March is the 15th of March. It is cited in Shakespeare's Julius Ceasar when the soothsayer warns Ceasar to "Beware the Ides of March." The soothsayer knows that something ill will befall Ceasar on that date. When the 15th of March comes and Ceasar is still alive, he passes the soothsayer on the street and smugly notes, "The Ides of March are come!" - suggesting that he has outlived the soothsayers doom. "Aye," says the soothsayer, "but they are not yet gone." Later in the day the conspirators, led by Brutus "Et tu Brute?" assassinate Ceasar, stabbing him in the back. Today, the "Ides" sometimes refers more generally to mid-month.

It's from Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar". Caesar was warned to beware of the Ides of March. It is the middle of March, March 15.

March the 15th, the day that Julius Caesar was allegedly stabbed to death by his "friends" on the Senate steps back in 44B.C., and the phrase, "Et tu, Brute" came forth from his dying mouth. "Beware of the Ides of March" is another saying that came forth from that incident. God Bless you.
