I know that babies gain, on average, 1 oz per day for the first few months, that they usually double their weight by 6 months and triple by 12 months.

Unfortunately it doesn't apply to my baby. She was 4 1/2 lbs at birth, and is 16 lbs at 6 months, so she's close to quadruple her birth weight already. She gained 2.5 lbs from 4 months to 6 months. I don't know if it's reasonable to expect that she'll continue to gain at the rate of about a pound a month until she's a year old.

My reason for asking is pretty trivial. I know that she'll probably change clothing sizes sometime in the middle of the summer, but I'm trying to figure out if she'll be likely to spend more time in one size than the other. I don't want to find out in June that she needs new summer clothes and the stores are selling Christmas dresses!

Thanks!

My son was 4/11 at birth. Looking back in his baby book, I see by 2 months he was 9/14.
6 months he was 16/5.
12 months he was 21.
Now at 17 months he's about 24 lbs.

You said from 4 to 6 months she gained 2.5 lbs...mine was 13/15 at 4 months and 16/5 at 6 months, so I guess somewhere between 2 and 3 lbs is what he gained.

It doesn't take them long to catch up. He eats like a hog and looking at him now you'd never know he was low birthweight.

I hope this helps!

Actually,

You have a couple of good things going for you here...

#1. If they grow in the summer, the shorts get a bit shorter and all goes well. Just make sure that you buy baggyish in the middle, and no one will notice if the length changes.

#2 You said "she" - girls are even easier... dresses are hard to grow out of quickly as long as they are loose in the waist.

As for the growth? They all sort of find their own patterns, but - they will go through growth "spurts" at 3 weeks and 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months. She will probably slow down now. It is tru that they usually double, then triple their weight within the first year - but that's when they start "average". Your daughter began a bit smaller than average, so it is safe to guess that she is just catching up to average (7 and half at birth, fifteen lbs at 6 months) so by a year, she will likely be around 20 lbs.

Growth slows down quite a bit in the second half of the first year. This is because babies start to move under their own power and burn a lot more calories. My son was 7.5 pounds at birth,18 pounds at 4 months, and only 22 pounds at one year. He walked at 10 months, so he was on the go from an early age. He has worn medium diapers since six months old and just hit 28 pounds at age 2. He has always been the exact size of clothes for his age. (Like wore 18 month size and age 1.5 etc...)

My little lady had unfavorable relux and replaced into 9lbs at 6 months. She has a enhance affliction so she is short additionally. stunning now she is 13lb and 24 inches tall 13 months. Her reflux is plenty greater advantageous now, it replaced into magnificent the way it stopped by skill of itself after being so very intense. she replaced into booked for fundoplication surgical technique at 10 months and did no longer finally end up wanting it. Your little you are able to still desire to be very skinny if she is the the appropriate option height and length for her age yet nevertheless 10lbs. You feeding regime sounds like it could't be assisting her benefit, in case you feed for 10 minutes each and every 40 5 minutes then she is basically getting a a million/2 hour smash between feeds and isn't getting adequate to fill her. Im very supportive of breast feeding yet while it contains well being you may could desire to reassess if it the the appropriate option determination for this actual infant. perhaps you may desire to evaluate asking your well being practitioner in case you may desire to she could desire to commence having expressed milk with fortifier in it to function energy.
