I've never had a website before, if I buy one from them do I own it? And what can I do with it, can I have someone design the page or something? I need a website but don't know how to do anything.

The website is yours, and yes, someone can build your website. If you choose someone to build your website, check out http://www.intrinzicdesignz.com they offer great services there.

If I remember correctly, When you buy a Yahoo domain it includes some sort of service plan. The service plan includes how much space and bandwith you get a month.

Question 1: If I buy one from them do I own it?
Answer: Yes, you do. The website is yours for you to do almost anything. (*Nothing illegal and violate there terms of service or they will cancel your account with no refund)

Question 2: What can I do with it?
Answer: It depends on what they offer. Every webhost has diffrent databases. Some uses MySql, Fantastico, Perl, CPanel, or basic web editor tool like Freewebs or Homestead. Whatever the company offers is your limitation on what you can do.

Question 3: Can I have someone design the page or something?
Answer: Absolutley! People do not need your account information. They can make one from scratch for a fee or you can find some free ones online that you can edit on your own. Just find what you like and upload to the proper folder

Question 4: I need a websitem but I can't do anything
Answer: Welcome! I would recomend to use a FREE web service before you buy something and become serious. There are some good ones out there and each are diffrent:

Example: Your yahoo account comes with geocites. http://www.geocities.com you can build a personal page there

Other basic website develope:
http://www.free-webs.com
http://angelfire.com
http://bravenet.com

For more advance features that uses CPanel, MySQL, Perl

There are a bunch of free host out there. Of course the same rules still apply you must follow there terms of service. Once you find the one you like and want to become independent you can switch later on.

You pay for a hosting package and you choose your own domain name or web address. You pay the hosting fee.

Your web page is yours and all that is displayed there is your own design and you own the designed page or pages that you make. You can save them on your home computer too. When you need to add information and redesign your page you can do it on your home computer and send it to your hosted folder on the Internet with an FTP tool. Easy as 1, 2, 3.

Follow the instructions at their help getting started page and you should be able to complete the basic set up in a few days. Then your ready to get creative. Hope your a success story!

If you buy a domain from yahoo domains, you kind of own it. I say kind of because it is more like a lease or a service that you pay for monthly. You can have a company design it for you (yahoo search website design) or you can write it yourself. You see, when you go to websites like yahoo.com or somewhere else, it is really just a bunch of words in a text file called HTML. If you are interested in writing the website, you can check out some books from your library, or yahoo search HTML tutorial for some HTML 101.

The domain you buy has to be linked with some physical websites. You have to find some hosting space for your website, and then upload your web pages there. You link the domain to your web sites.
