At first I thought it was November Rain, but the lyrics don't include "do you remember". Is it possible it was Skid Row instead of Guns N Roses? The vocals sound similar and this song seems to fit the lyrics.

This song was covered by them on the album the shpagetti incident, the song is called yesterday, but it was originally called I remember by Sebastian Bach and the Skid Row
