*My daughter was mis-diagnosed with GERD, when really all it was, was oversupply of breastmilk on my part. We have since managed that a little better working with a lactation consultant, but She is still fussy after feedings. Today she slept alot and was not so fussy, but she was only awake about 4 hours total. I was wondering if she needs to sleep this much and she is fussy when she doesn't get her sleep.

Depends on the baby , It also depends on if he is being mentally stimulated. The more you play with a baby the more it will be awake. I have an 8 week old who is pretty much awake all day except for an early morning and afternoon snooze. He goes to bed by 9 and pretty much sleeps untill 6 am. I spend all day playing with him so he will sleep at night. Start good behaviors early

As you can see by the first answers, the answers will be all over the board. Any child that is growing will sleep more than a child that is not growing at that particular time. The more a baby sleeps, the happier both he and his parents will be. As long as he is wide awake when he is awake and he's able to sleep peacefully, there is nothing to worry about. If he's not sleeping well at night, you might want to keep him more active during the day.

We would encourage our little ones to play and get around as much as we could during the daytime hours, with a nap or two, to help both the children and us parents. The older our children got the longer during the day, with a nap, and at about year - two they were used to the daytime playtime and started showing that they were ready for sleep @ 7 or 8 PM which is nice to sleep all night!!!! good luck with whatever you feel comfortable with.

Babies that usually sleep about nine hours waking up for feeding, during the day, and about 8 hours during the night waking for feedings.

My son slightly slept while he replaced into that youthful. He slept rather good at night... virtually the finished night without waking. He could stay conscious for hours at a time and it drove me loopy. while he could sleep it could basically be for 20-30 minutes if i replaced into fortunate. while he replaced right into some months old he started taking greater advantageous naps in the process the day.

I dont quite remember but here is an awesome website that you can go to that keeps you up to date on the new studies and milestones. They even send you e-mails each week telling you different ways your child is developing with accordance to how old they are. So cool! http://www.babycenter.com
