By that I mean what are the values, ideals, and norms that make us Americans. What is it that we have fought for in the past and what we will fight for in the future?

True spiritual belief and faith in Liberty, Individualism and Universal Natural Rights...Right here I'm an American and proud to be so.

Americans are mostly average law abiding citizens who pay their taxes and votes. They raise their children to be law abiding and vote the straight Democrat or Republican ticket...they fight wars and demonstrate to end wars and other social injustices.
Americans are hated and envied by most of the people in the world except the Eskimos in the North...Americans call themselves Christian but few follow the Churches rules and very yet attend or tithe their fare share (me included as I have a lot of poor relatives that i help_)_God loves Americans as His name is still on the money

Who just said Native Americans don't exist? I'm half Native and proud of it. Stupid foreign types don't even know the term is Native American, not "red indian" as we're anywhere from light to deep olive. Don't you DARE tell me we don't exist, or give me some ignorant line about how we don't have "culture." That's freaking racist.

What is an American? A rabid consumer. All the ideals that make great sound bites revolve around facilitating consumption.

I guess we were originally faithful (mostly Christian, but other faiths were soon to follow), and that was our main goal; to have faith freedom, they called it religious freedom, but religion isn't worth fighting for, we fought for faith. Now we're in a state of commercialism and "society's dream". We've gotten caught up in the lime light and now we don't seem to know what we're fighting for. We're in trouble, that's what America is, in trouble.

NOTHING. Americans don't have anything of their own.
No Region - it is just a cluster of different states tht r united together.
No Language - English is not their language, its british. Espagnol is from Spain.
No culture - the red indians don't exist anymore
No Cuisine - it is just the hot dog and burger tht america knows and tht too comes from germany.
SO ALL-IN-ALL AN AMERICAN IS JUST A FALSE WORD IN THE WORLD.

We have no morals, our kids are getting fatter, we continually fight for freedom that is monitored by our government...want me to keep going...okay

A society that is vain and cares more about physical beauty than they do about knowledge and education.
A society that makes people like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears..etc etc role models for our children. Thus ruining a generation of young girls by allowing them to think that emaciated rich women that do nothing for their money are to be worshipped.

It is becoming a very sad place to be.

And don't even get me started on George W Bush....
