Places to go about an 1 to 2 hours away from St. Louis?

looking for anything, state parks, muesams, anything. I'm trying to put together a cheap not to far trip.

Try an overnight trip to Carlyle, Ill. visit Lake Carlyle when the weather warms up...there are beaches, camping facilities, picnic grounds, fishing and nice lodging available as well as 2 golf courses and plenty of restaurants. It takes about an hour to get here from there.
