i think it is tenesse or new york but i don't know which one plz help i am doing a project on black history month :)

This question has been on Yahoo! Answers before. I like the other person can find not except for the invention of the hair brush. I've been searching for 45 minutes. Go to the library at school and see if they have a book. I would guess New York since that is where she refined the hairbrush.

You can find info. on about.com, but give me a break here. There are actually blacks in history who made REAL contributions to our society (Booker T. Washington is my personal hero, MLK, George Washington Carver,...); do you really think it matters that someone invented a nifty hairbrush? I think studying this minutiae trivializes the important contributions of blacks to our country. Honestly, no one is studying which whites, browns or yellows invented a better fingernail file! This is pathetic, considering that there are actual USEFUL, RELEVANT achievements that have been made by blacks throughout our history. I guess it is just another example of the brilliant curricula being used in public schools. No wonder my children will never set foot there!
