code division multiple access

Code division multiple access (CDMA) is a form of multiplexing and a method of multiple access that divides up a radio channel not by time (as in time division multiple access), nor by frequency (as in frequency-division multiple access), but instead by using different pseudo-random code sequences for each user. CDMA is a form of "spread-spectrum" signalling, since the modulated coded signal has a much higher bandwidth than the data being communicated.

CDMA also refers to digital cellular telephony systems that make use of this multiple access scheme, such as those pioneered by Qualcomm, and W-CDMA by the International Telecommunication Union or ITU.

Its a type of phone service that Verizon and Sprint use, T-Mobile and Cingular are a GSM service. CDMA is just a different type of frewuency the phones use, CDMA is only available in the U.S. and part of the U.K. But GSM works worldwide, it is the most used phone service type. Like if you weant to Asia or a lot of Europe and Australia and even Mexico, GSM is the way to go for CDMA only works in the U.S. and parts of Europe. Hope that helped!
