yo. i have a ATA controller on my motherboard. and a PATA controller in a pci slot
i dont see in my boot menu how to change the boot order between the two. i set it to scsi to boot either.
it trys to boot the PATA drive first.
i have deleted the partition on that drive.
it says disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter.
rather than going on to the SATA drive with an os.
how can i fix it ?

The drive is not corrupted. I deleted the partition on purpose hoping it would skip that drive.

It cannot be selected in the bios.

I select scsi in the bios boot order to boot to either the PATA or the SATA card. it does both. PATA happens to be first, but i want to use SATA

Go into the BIOS. Usually or before the Windows boot screen should bring you into it. There you can select boot device order.

The problem also is your boot drive got corrupted.

The Boot Priority List Should Show Like this....

1. CD / DVD Drive
2. Floppy
3. SATA
4. EIDE also known as ATA
5. SCSI

If you are installing Windows operation system, you want CD / DVD to be the top of the list for booting.

If you are having a boot errors problem still, your boot files in the operation system is corrupted and needed to be replace. You can replace it by accessing the System console. Look for Bootfixes and make sure that Windows system repair replaces the bad boot files.

If problem persist, it obviously that one of your boot device in the priority list is dead.

My last suggestion is maybe that the controller card in PCI is proving to be causing confusion.

Do you have both the SATA and SCSI controller card installed via PCI slots?

try to get to boot device priority tab then change the boot device in to ata hard disk,i mean the device which connect to the ata slot.if your mother board is Intel(sometimes this can be in other mother boards too)If you cannot see the ata hard disk in the boot device priority section check there is a option to change hard disk priority ,but remember you can do this if you do not see the ata device in boot device priority section also your device should be a hard disk too.Ah.. there is also another thing if above methods did not work try to reset the c-mos completely .you must change jumper location and also remove the motherboard battery too. Then after a 15 minutes you can fix them as they are originally situated then start the ma cine.there many other options but i cannot tell it without knowing much details of your motherboard.

You will need to go into your CMOS and change the boot order. When you start the machine, press "F1" or "Esc" until the CMOS come up. Some machines it might be "F3" instead. You will have to find out on your machine which one it is.
