I was looking at some of the resolved questions like this, and most people said that their friends found movies starring Marlon Brando, James Dean, etc. "boring"...I also listen to 50-60s rock and doowap, I like it a LOT better than what they play today...

And I'm 12 so I was wondering if it's weird that I like these kinds of things. [I mean, I know "weird" is just an opinion, and that's what I'm asking for.]

Thanks =)

Friend, it is they who are weird.

They are the ones who, given an entire history of culture, have decided to put blinders on and see only what they are told to see.

When someone tells me they find something boring, I know that what they are really saying is, "I'm boring."

Don't stop at the 50s - keep going into the 40s, the 30s, the 20s, etc. Take a look at the art and design of the times too - and how that intersects with the movies and music.

There's a lot out there.

Its not wierd in my opinion but then well Im 15 and love the same stuff. I dont get current music, I dont like it and I wont listen to it. And old movies are great! Most of the best movies Ive seen are old ones.
I think music was best in the 50s and 60s you had bands like the Beatles and Buddy Holly and the Crickets and the Hollies and all kinds of other great bands. There are a few bands I like not from those two decades but the best music, movies anything is 50s 60s in my opinion.
Who cares what your friends say cause mine say the same, just be you thats whats important.

not weird at all. I do hope you know that there are LOTS of good groups and songs from the 50's and 60's that radio stations dont seem to play anymore. Luckily with the internet you can explore and see what you like. as far as movies, AMC and TCM play lots of good movies for us to enjoy from the 50's and 60's.

I think it's great that you've taken an interest in art and culture from the past and I think it's more uncommon than weird that you've done so.

I'm 25 years older than you, but only started getting in the music of the 60's a couple of years ago. I wish I had developed that interest and appreciation earlier in my life.

No you are not weird, sounds like to me you are a kid with great taste. My nephew was the same way when he was a kid. He is now 24 and has 3 children of his own and they like that music also. So you are not alone. Keep up the good work and pass it along!!!!

Your not weird at all. If you want to listen to old music or want to see old movies it's your choice. You listen to what you want & see what you want. Just don't give a f*** of what other people say!!! It's your life; Nobody controls you. Have a nice day!!!

No your not weird at all. If you are interested in that kind of music then you listen to that. I know today's music isn't that good.
