I have been gone for a little while, and now I'm seeing pirates everywhere. Did I miss something?

I'm pretty sure it started with Pirates of the Caribbean, and then got taken over by computer type, he hang out on the internet with young kids, who ran with the idea for a sense of being uniquely different, which was attracted to by 20 somethings seeking to keep themselves from feeling old, and has lead up that chain to 40 somethings, the parent's of the original young kids that started these trends, and leads to it being uncool.
But, as previously stated, I blame computer geeks.
