i am surprised that the doc didn't prescribe antibiotic eye drops for her eyes, usually once the drops are put in the eye for one day, the symptoms of pink eye start to reside and will go way. but yes i would call the doc back and have him see her or prescribe some type of eye drops. good luck i hope this helped! i hope your little one is feeling better soon!!!!

IF you are breastfeeding, squirting some breast milk into the eye will very likely cure it. When my daughter got pink eye as a newborn that would not get better even after using prescribed drops my very old fashioned mother in law insisted I do this. Honestly I thought she was nuts but she was so insistent that I did it and it healed right away.
When I had pink eye a few years ago two different prescribed drops didn't do the trick but the eye cream (kind of like neosporin but for the eye) made it go away.
In any case if you have a doctor that doesn't take you seriously drop him and get a different one. There are so many terrible doctors out there just keep trying until you get one who gives you the respect of taking you seriously.

If you are concerned about it, it is your right as a parent to ask for an appointment. Oftentimes pink eye is treated with an antibiotic eye drop. I have a hard time believing that an infection like pink eye can be treated just by irrigating it. But, what do I know? Anyway, good luck and trust your instincts. If you think your baby needs to be seen, then she does. Especially if it's bothering her.

my daughter just went through pink eye. the dr said she didnt want to get antibotic drops because it is most likly virual, which is proabbly why your dr said to just wait it out. but my dr also told me if the pink eye is still there in a week then it could be beacterial and to bring her back. because the eye isnt red, and the green stuff is gone, that is a sign the eye is getting better. i wouldnt take her in yet, and especially dont call 9-1-1 as someone else suggested. if by friday it isnt cleared up assuming friday it will be over a week, then take her back in. if the eye ring is itchy maybe some benadroyl (sp?) and maybe soem tylenole or motrion to ease any discomfot she is having.

There's always the possibility that's it's viral pink eye. Usually pink eye is a bacterial infection, it's gone a day after you start antibiotics. But viral pink eye is a whole different beast. I didn't know it existed until my husband and I got pink eye from my son last year, somehow his was bacterial but ours was viral. We were out of work for 3 weeks because you're contagious until your eye stops watering.
Is her eye watering a lot? If not, then it doesn't sound like viral pink eye. Either way, I'd demand to see a dr!

My daughter was 9 months and got pink eye. My doctor gave her an antibiotic eye drop for her eye. Its not getting better so I would definitely take her in and if doesn't give you anything I think its time to change doctors...

If you feel your baby's eye has gotten worse or has not gotten better than yes you should take her back to the doctor. Your baby's doctor should be understanding about your concerns, and if he/she is not, I would consider finding a new doctor. Good luck and I hope your baby's eye gets better soon.

So did you just call your doctor and describe it to him, or did you actually take your daughter in and have her examined? If you didn't take her to the doctor, I certainly would. If this doctor hasn't even seen your baby and is giving you a diagnosis over the phone, he should be shot! She could have any number of infections in her eye.

the ring around her eye could be periorbital cellulitis...this is an EMERGENT PROBLEM and she needs to be seen in the ED right now!!!...serious complications could result in delay...if you can not take her, call 9-1-1 and request an ambulance
(i would rather be wrong and you be a concerned mom, than be right and she loses her vision)
pink eye can be caused by three things...
bacteria (cured with antibiotics)
viral (cured with time)
corneal abrasion (cured with antibiotics or other meds (like steroids if needed)
please read the info that i linked to you and read the 1st paragraph carefully!
good luck
