Then, corporations that want the natives quelled in 'hotspots' around the world so that they will accept slave wages can get someone else to go out there and die for them.

We used to be like that, it was called isolationism. It just doesn't work. No country on earth is completely self-sustaining. Therefore, trade between nations is essential. Agreements, and treaties are formed for the mutual benefit of the nations involved, and when those contracts are threatened, sometimes the use of force is necessary. The world is not too big, it's too small for isolationism as a viable economic national policy for any nation state.

It sounds great in theory. However, what happens one day when the rest of the world has been taken over by greedy communist dictators, will America be able to defend itself against that, standing alone. If you look at the globe and pick out all the places that have turned socialist, mostly by funding by china and other communist nations, or by force, you will see a widely growing map of dictatorships, not good.

Who's to say invading Iraq isn't home defense? That is the President's rationale, as half-baked as it is.

Would we have to allow some other country to invade Canada or Mexico and sit on our hands waiting for them to cross our border?

I love the idea. There are shootouts on the Mexican border almost nightly. It would be a shame to have American troops defend America instead of Israel.
