Yes! my guinea pig had babies, and I looked after them from day one, we kept one (a girl to live with her mum) but had to give two boys away (to a family friend, who had just had two of hers die aged 9!) So I know it was a good place for them to go, and that they will be looked after well, but it was just so sad to see these babies go that I had held, and fed, and loved since they were born. :(

Definitely. Anyone that wouldn't, should probably not have the pet to begin with as they obviously don't care enough about it. A pet becomes a part of your family and when you lose your pet, you are losing a part of your heart. I could never give a pet away willingly. Our pets live happy lives and it is a very sad day when they leave of natural causes. We did have to euthanize a saint bernard a few years ago and that was torture. She was only 14 months old and had bone cancer that had spread from her hind leg into her entire ribcage. We tried medication and she was losing weight fast, 35 pounds in 2 weeks and was starting to moan and cry all the time, so we took her back to the vet to be put out of her misery. We could hardly see what we were doing when we buried her.

I couldn't give my pet away. I once took a cat from Hawaii to Georgia to Texas to North Carolina and finally settling in Oklahoma. People said, isn't that a pain? Why don't you just give him away and get another one?

Sorry that little boy was like my child and I couldn't have in a million years given him away. Giving any of my pets away will never happen, but if for some reason I absolutely had to, I'd be crying like a baby for days.

I cried for 24 hours after my dog that i had from the time i was one till a freshman in high school died. I was glad she died peacefully, she was in her play position and "looking" at my bird. We buried her in our backyard under a tree, and when my bird died, she was buried next to the dog.

I miss them both ;(

I would definately cry if I had to give a pet away as well, unless i KNEW for sure they were in a good home and wouldnt be hurt, then id just be sad and miss them a lot.

depends on what kind of animal and how attached you are. a dog or cat or horse of course I would cry what kind of person wouldn't? But if it was like a fish I don't think so.
