What's the difference between the vaccines taken trough the mouth and the shots? I have a 5 months old and my pediatrician has the shots only.
But I have friends that say their babies are given the vaccines trough the mouth (not all the vaccines, but some). I always feel bad for my baby when they give him the shot...
How your baby gets his/her vaccines?

well my son is eight now, but the only shot that i remember that he had to take by the mouth, was the vaccine for polio, it was a pink liquid. but as for his other vaccine they were shots. but since it has been 8 years, they may have come up with new ways of giving vaccines. sorry i couldn't help more.

They actually don't recommend the oral polio vaccine anymore, it's now a shot as well. My children have gotten all shot vaccines except for the rotavirus vaccine, that one is oral. You feel bad while they are getting the shot, but just think of how bad you would feel if they actually got one of those diseases! Besides, they can't remember them when they get older.

I have never heard that you could get vaccinations orally. My kids have received all vaccinations through shots. My son never cried during his vaccinations until recently and it breaks my heart. The doctor told me to give him Tylenol about a half hour before his doctors appointment so that he's already feeling better after the shot.

I don't know, by daughter gets both shots and an oral vaccine. Don't feel bad, it's sad to see them in pain. It's temporary but the shots help save their life. And not ALL vaccines can be ingested because if given orally they are toxic. Just keep doing what you're doing.

I've never heard of oral vaccines. My kids have gotten all theirs through shots. Here's something to try next time. Ask that two nurses come in and give him shots in each leg simultaneously.

Sawy i don't have a baby...but i think vaccines threw shots is much better...think about it, it goes directly to the blood stream so it can start working right away, so no pain no gain =)

i thought polio was still given orally.... there was a reason this was done.. more effective or less dangerous... I am not sure.. ask your Dr.
